The weather:
Andalucía has a very pleasant climate. In the summer months of July and August it can get hot in the afternoon but in general it cools down at night to a comfortable level. The months of March, April, May, June, September and October are excellent for activities but also to lounge in the sun. In the winter months the weather can be less reliable but in general the chances are very good to have lunch outside in the sun.

The hotel building of El Molino Santisteban is facing north which makes the rooms relatively cool because the sun hardly shines directly inside. All rooms have a fan for the warm days as well an electric heater for the cooler days.

Fiestas:
Guaro has, apart from the general public holidays and fiestas, two fiestas of its own. In the second and third week of September the “Luna Mora” is celebrated. With this fiesta Guaro changes into a Moorish bazaar. All over town music and artistic performances from artists from all over Andalucía are to be seen. At night the town is illuminated with candles. Around 15 May every year the “Romeria San Isidro” takes place. From Guaro the inhabitants come down the hill accompanied by the holy statue to celebrate at the riverbank, at only 100 meters from El Molino Santisteban, with music, drinks and a huge paella. Everybody is welcome.

Medical facilities:
The medical facilities in Spain are up to the standard one can expect from a Western European Country. Coín (10 minutes by car) has a health centre with first aid. In Marbella, 25 minutes by car, is a big hospital “Hospital Costa Del Sol”. We have contact details of several English-speaking doctors in the neighbourhood.

Travelling to Andalucía:
Flying
From the UK the best way to travel to Andalucía is by airplane. There are many direct daily connections from many British airports to Málaga. The flight should take around two and a half to three hours. Málaga airport is a modern airport with all facilities that one might expect and handles many flights a day from all over Europe.

Car:
At Málaga airport all major car rental companies are present. In general car rental in Spain is quite cheap starting at EUR 11 a day in low season to EUR 18 in high season. Booking a car can be done in advance through the Internet.

Going to Andalucía by car from the UK is a long ride. After you arrive in France after crossing the channel it is still at least a two day drive of over 2000 kilometres. Spain has a well-kept system of secondary roads, highways and toll roads. In the cities there are usually good and affordable parking facilities.
