About us
After we made a trip around the world we developed the idea of running a small hotel with a personal touch where guests can enjoy the freedom to do whatever they like. It was clear to us that it had to be in Spain. The culture, the people, the pace of living and the climate were important factors. We both have a good knowledge of the Spanish language.
After a couple of years working in the Netherlands and the birth of our son Folkert (2001) and our daughter Clementine (2003) we decided to give up our careers. Madeline as head-hunter and Gerard in banking. In 2007 we bought El Molino Santisteban, an old watermill and a hotel in a beautiful location on the banks of El Río Grande in the heart of Andalucía. In 2009 we moved from the centre of Haarlem to the countryside of Andalucía.
Now we welcome guests from all over the world in our renovated hotel. We enjoy showing our guests around in this beautiful region with its rich heritage. Folkert and Clementine love it when families with children come and stay in El Molino Santisteban. With their new friends they play for hours on the banks of the river, swim in the swimming pool, go and buy an ice-cream at the Venta Gallardo or explore the orange and olive groves around El Molino Santisteban.
We hope to see you soon in El Molino Santisteban!
